ITEM : SW211 - HORSTER " ROON "
Dove Head Officers Sword
This German "Roon" pattern sword
displays the engraved hilt fittings that were not so popular
with the German officers as the chiseled hilt fittings. Hence
these have become scarce in today's market. This pattern
although similar to the Eickhorn "1716" page 81 of Angolia's
swords of Germany has differences and I was unable to find
another known example by Horster. Sword is in excellent
condition retaining much of the original gilt, blade is clean
and the scabbard un-dented. Also has the remains of the leather
finger loop. Clean and rare.
