ITEM: H106
Manufactured by Quist ( Q64 ) the inner rim
stamp for the maker is readable however the
production run number is difficult although
it looks like "1776". The helmet is a M40
Heer and is a little tired with a mixture of
original paint, pitting and light rust. The
dark green paint finish again is only
visible in natural daylight and the correct
lighting conditions. The decal is largely
intact and has toned to a golden colour.
Quist are widely regarded as the "Rolls
Royce" of German helmet manufacturers and
you can certainly feel the quality of this
helmet when in hand although cosmetically it
has suffered.
The remains of the liner is still in place behind the liner band and I
suspect that due to much of the interior
dome paint still visible that the liner was
removed relatively recently.
Original, worn and with the original liner
band, rivets and decal, this helmet displays
well and has certainly been there, there is
also a possibility that the helmet would
benefit from a clean or restoration.
