CARL EICKHORN - TRADEMARKS OR MAKER MARKS - POST 1930

  Carl Eickhorn was the largest producer of period German daggers and edged weapons, established in 1865, the company has used numerous trademarks or makers marks either stamped or etched into the blades. The squirrel logo has become synonymous with the highest quality manufacture of pre and period Third Reich German daggers and below are known examples utilized on some of the more prolific types of daggers, swords or bayonets from 1930-1945.  THE ARMY DAGGER      
1933/35: Stamped double oval. 1935/41 Acid etched, with sword. 1941: Small stamped with sword. 1942: Stamped, over the shoulder, 2 different alignments.    
  THE SA DAGGER        
1933/35 Double oval, smooth tail, with "CE". 1933/35 Double oval, serrated tail, with "CE". 1933/35: Small Double oval normally observed on daggers with a blade dedication, without "CE", serrated tail. 1933/35: Small Double oval normally observed on daggers with a blade dedication, without "CE", smooth tail. 1936/39: Transitional mark showing both makers mark and RZM code 1936/42: RZM M7/66 SA code assigned to Carl Eickhorn
           
 THE SS DAGGER       
1933/35 Double oval, serrated tail, with "CE". 1933/35 Double oval, smooth tail, with "CE". 1933/35: Small Double oval normally observed on daggers with a blade dedication, without "CE", serrated tail. 1933/35: Small Double oval normally observed on daggers with a blade dedication, without "CE", smooth tail. 1936: Transitional mark showing both the early double oval and RZM. 1937/38: Squirrel with sword, only used for a short period.
1938: Transitional mark showing both RZM & Squirrel with sword, without "original" stamp. 1936/39: Transitional mark showing both RZM & Squirrel with sword, with "original" stamp. 1939: RZM & Rat squirrel, thought to be the last transitional marking used by Eickhorn. 1936/42: RZM M7/941 SS code assigned to Carl Eickhorn    
           
 THE DRESS BAYONET      
1906/1921: Back to back squirrels used on all edged weapons. 1921-? The first single squirrel trademark registered by Eickhorn in 1921 Date unknown but thought to be between 1930-1933, double oval with the addition of "CE". 1933/34: Double oval with slimmer body and lower tail. 1933/34: Double oval with fatter body and higher tail.  1935/41: Stamped squirrel with sword.
1942: Over the shoulder.          
           
 THE HJ KNIFE      
1931/32: One of the only mottos to not display "EICKHORN", only seen on knives without a ricasso. 1933/35: Double oval, arms up, also seen with arms outstretched. 1936: Note the lack of the word " ORIGINAL" from above the squirrel 1937/41: Both makers mark and RZM code for Eickhorn. Date on ricasso. 1942: Over the shoulder stamp on blade and RZM mark to ricasso.
