ITEM : D111 - VOOS ( E-Pack 2nd ) German Army Officers
Dagger
This German army dagger is by Emil Voos, a
smaller maker but renowned for high quality edged weapons. It
has a silver plated blade that is flawless and is clearly marked
with a stamped TM. The pommel and crossguard are early-mid
period, heavily silvered and show much of the original
background burnishing. The grip is a two tone with the deep
swirls showing a darker orange than the upper segments, this is
probably dirt and is unlikely to be a
reaction to light exposure. The scabbard has matching
patina and appears to be Eickhorn manufactured with 2 flush
mounted side screws, Voos are known to have purchased parts from
larger German army dagger makers and is correct for the dagger.
It also has the owners surname very lightly scratched into the
reverse crossguard " SAGEL " and again is not visible unless you
search for it.
The flaw with this otherwise perfect Heer
dagger is a crack running the length of the eagles body on the
right side of the crossguard and while it is not visible to the
naked eye from the front can be seen on the underside of the
Pack 2nd style eagle. The dagger has never been apart and is
firmly fixed and this damage was probably caused by somebody
using too much force to try to release the grip.
