ITEM: D111 A textbook Army
Officers dagger by WKC ( Weyersburg &
Kirschbaum ) and is fitted with the more
common third style crossguard utilized by
WKC throughout the period. The blade
bears a tapered tang suggesting that this
particular dagger was assembled very
early and the quality and finish of the
parts confirms this. The blade has a
glorious frosted appearance with 100%
cross-graining evident and a burnished WKC
makers mark with a couple of very light
water marks that would probably clean.
The grip is a bright orange and flawless and
the dagger is matched to a typical WKC
scabbard with a minor door ding to lower
portion. Original lacquer is still evident
in places and the only minor flaw is a
slight patch of surface contamination to the
right wing of the eagle that has interacted
with the base metal.
