PERIOD GERMAN MILITARIA OFFERED AND FOR SALE ON BEHALF OF COLLECTORS WORLDWIDE

  ITEM : C121 - Skull Ring-Early 2 piece Brass?

This is a very early and very large sized interesting skull ring. I presume it is made of brass going by the verdigris build up within the recessed sections of the band. The ring has never been cleaned by me although I have been tempted on several occassions and what I find interesting about this piece is that it appears to be made up of two parts. This is barely visible to the naked eye and the skull itself is alot smaller than it appears from the pictures below ( macro ) however the worksmanship is very impressive for what would have been a hand crafted piece. The skull and raised areas show obvious wear but with much detail remaining considering the soft base metal used.
There are no signs of any markings or signatures to the band and the diameter of the ring is exactly 1 inch, I am not sure what that equates to in ring sizes. My guess would be that this was worn during WW1 although the construction method used may suggest a much earlier date.
I am open to sensible offers or partial trade towards a good conditioned German dagger.
