War Merit Cross 1st Class-Silver &
War Merit Cross 2nd Class-Bronze (Marked '3' Wilheim Deumer)
Offering a 1st class Silver War
Merit Cross along with a damaged 2nd class award in bronze. The
silver 1st class medal is maker marked '3' for Wilhelm Deumer
and much of the original silver wash has been absorbed by the
base metal although the detail is very crisp and clear. The
catch is strong and intact although the pin will not locate
under the retainer and I am afraid to bend the loop back a
little for fear of damage. The 2nd class medal has lost its
fixing ring and has a couple of surface stains that would clean.
A good first class combat award and with a bronze version 2nd class for
the same price. |
