ITEM: C109 A transitional
Hitler Youth knife by Herm Konejung RZM
M7/7. Relatively early with both the stamped
maker to the ricasso and the RZM designation
to the blade, this process of double marking
was in use for only a short period as the
firms switched from one technique to the
next. The reverse blade also shows evidence
of the HJ motto ( Blut und Ehre ) although
the sharpening and cleaning done to the
blade over the years has taken its toll on
it's visibility. Obviously a well used and
carried HJ with evidence of quality nickel
plating to the hilt fittings and a brass
under-coat that is normally not observed on
later produced knives.
The grip plates have been replaced with some form of laminate plastic and
the major "doh" issue with the replacements
is that the diamond was inset into the wrong
side of the hilt. The diamond itself is
largely un-damaged and looks to be original.
The scabbard is good with 75% intact paint and a pressed cardboard hanger
that still has the retaining loop intact,
minus the press stud. Used and worn, but
original and cheap!.
