	ITEM : C101 - M17 Splinter Pattern Camo Helmet 1914-1918 A one looker Great War splinter pattern camo helmet in very good condition and internally stamped ET64. The leather liner fingers are dry but intact and the cloth horse hair pouches to the rear are in excellent shape with the remains of the cloth ties in place. There is no evidence that the liner has ever been out of this helmet and in my opinion is totally original and un-treated. The overall appearance and wear and tear on this helmet is exactly as you would expect to find on an un-messed with M17 helmet approaching 100 years old and all camos from both wars are becoming increasingly hard to find. The splinter pattern is very desirable amongst collectors due to the variations and styles that can be encountered and the brush strokes still visible today bring this helmet to life. The original owners initials " EK " are hand painted on the rim along with a 2 letter cypher which I believe reads " AK ". An excellent helmet that will fit into any collection and with a story to tell !.
